Infusers/Slemmgraise
The two are engaged in a cold war and have been for some time. From the center of the Slemmgraise Alliance to the cobble streets of the Infuser's planets, agents, plans, codes, and all manner of information is exchanged so that both will have a technological edge on the other should their mutual mistrust and suspicion come to cause a galactic conflagration. The Slemmgraise have multiple interests, but chief amongst them is protecting their genetic code and the technologies based on it. The teleportation is the centerpiece of their hold over their alliance and even though it has already begun to crack, they will keep it together at all costs.
Infusers/KAMTASA
The two are constant fighting with one another over a series of Zurai orbs, each of which requires more scientific acumen to open than the last. Between major space lanes, KAMTASA and Infuser ships fight with weapons unparalleled in the rest of the galaxy. Secret Dyson Research stations dot the blackness of space, their existence only known to the very top levels of intelligence on each side. Sometimes, a random artifact will fall to a planet from one of these secret battles, or people will tell strange stories of dimensional ships with abilities that no power in the galaxy is capable of wielding. These are the sources of those stories.
Infusers/Pris
There are a number of worlds along the border betweeen the Pris and the Infusers which are controlled by occupation forces from the Lizard Alliance. This is because there was once a rampant infestation along those spacelanes that a member race of the Pris, the Chloroshen, were immune to. They quickly set up treatment centers, but the suriving populations barely survived. While the disease is no longer communicable, the inhabitant still suffer and the Pris hold sway over that sector, much to the chargin of both the Infusers and the natives that are still healthy. Indeed, the Pris effectively rule the area, and as the locals rebel more, the Pris enact harsher methods to protect their citizens that are present.
Infusers/Massert NoSve
The Infusers and the Massert No Sve were once allies. The Masser NoSve fostered the creation of the Infusers, but their advisors and many of their personnel opted to break away from Masser NoSve in order to foster the brave and entrepreneural spirit of the locals. Many members of the Infuser government can trace their ancestry back to the original "colonials" of the Masser NoSve. While they still travel, tensions are high within both alliances, with violence not being uncommon. Depending on the sector government, sometimes the acts of violence are quickly punished, and sometimes they aren't. It is only a matter of time before someone too important to ignore is hurt in one of these instances, forcing one side into a reprise. That's not even mentioning violent Reunificationists, who insist the Infuser Alliance "return to the fold."
Infusers/Free Alliance
A whole sector of Free Alliance worlds are currently under seige by Infuser forces. While disavowed by the new government, these ragtag citizens and military personnel attempt to hold important technological finds from the "Zurai Era" from the Infusers, who are known to execute Resisters on sight. The Infusers constant underestimate the insane doggedness of the natives and the support the receive from the local populace. Their regional headquarters was once wiped out, but they merely sent in more. Attempts to ramp their numbers higher have been met with threats from the Free Alliance, who nominally controls the sector. Some say that the Infusers are sneaking in troops all the same.
Slemmgraise/KAMTASA
The unchecked flow of goods (and sapients) from KAMTASA to Slemmgraise Alliance has allowed a number of dangerous drugs and alternatives to teleportation into Slemmgraise society, both equally destructive. In return, the Slemmgraise have tried to cut down on unauthorized exports, but the KAMTASA have leveled threats against them for the military movements and resultant actions against KAMTASA citizens. Luckily, despite their age and technology, the Slemmgraise have never had an appreciable miliary nor an indication to throw it against anyone. Some within have suggested that not being able or willing to do has made the KAMTASA bold, and a continuance of those policies will only make them more bold.
Slemmgraise/Pris
Slemmgraise patrol Pris sector to stop illicit goods from the Infusers flowing through the the Chev-Mokara sector. The Slemmgraise units in the airea have been roped into running the entirely of the border patrol and transporation verifcaiton in the sector (and a few neightobring ones. The result of this is that the Slemmgraise have been de facto burdened with maintaining Pris control of the sector, even repelling KAMTASA forces and uncovering covert actions in the area. Currently, the Pris have withdrawn units to the point that they could no longerhold it if the Slemmgraise were to pull out and have even taken diplomatic actions to keep them from doing so in the past.
Slemmgraise/Massert NoSve
The Massert NoSve technologies and architecture bear similarities to that of the PROTECTS. It's thought that the Massert NoSve were uplifted by the PROTECTs in their last days or they simply built their civlization on the last of the AIs after they were crushed by the Slemmgraise reigns ago. If it's only one thing they kept, it seems to be a deep-seated animosity for the Slemmgraise. See-sawing support of the Pris and KAMTASA have been their main fronts of conflict, as well as certain struggles over resources and technolgoies. As of late, there have even been rumors of shots fired in the Ancient Rim with corresponding gossip about Massert NoSve light fleets and Slemmgrase destroyers limping back to docks for repairs and offering posthumous honors to exo-suit (ES) companies.
Slemmgraise/Free Alliance
A handful of sectors--including many that consider themselves the heart of the Free Alliance after the civil war--have technically located inside of Slemmgraise space. Many rose up and cast of Slemmgraise leadership on the ground. While they were still nominally dependant on the Slemmgraise for transportation, the role of the Teleporters has been scaled back to that of a very harsh service provider, acting much as it does for the KAMTASA and Pris. However, blockades and attempts at networking themselves back into the lives of those below have met with limited success. Slemmgraise tread carefully in these areas and both sides engage in intercene acts of violence against the other, with a Slemmgraise asteroid ship of over a thousand falling prey to a gas attack and crashing into an inhabited planet as late as the last deci. Millions died.
KAMTASA/Pris
Yeah. Hot war between lizard folk.
KAMTASA/Massert NoSve
While the KAMTASA and Massert NoSve nominally have pleasant, and even cooperative, relations, the fact of the matter is that there's a considerable amount of shooting going on along their border. Groups of armed ships, labeled as pirates, by the Massert NoSve strike colonies and supply centers within KAMTASA space. While the Massert NoSve claim an inability to identify or stop them, going so far as to cast aspersions (albeit indirectly) on the Pris and Slemmgraise. This doesn't stop the KAMTASA from launching raids in force against areas within Massert NoSve space, going so far as to even claim
KAMTASA/Free Alliance
KAMTASA has lent a remarkable amount of materiel to the Free Alliance, even before their victory over The Federals. However, hawks within the Free Alliance have put the alliance into a tenuous position with respect to the Slemmgraise, the Infusers, and the Pris that make them reliant on that support. So far, KAMTASA has leveraged this reliance into entrenching them even deeper into those conflicts on their behalf. While the Sur-Et Rim picks up more of the KAMTASA/Pris War, isolationists and pacifists inside of the Free Alliance have a harder time pulling their fledgling alliance out.
Pris/Massert NoSve
Things have changed significantly since the outbreak of war between the KAMTASA and Pris. Before the war, the Pris were content to threaten and subjugate Massert NoSve-aligned worlds. Now they rely so heavily on Massert NoSve for intelligence, diplomatic aid, and technological assistance that they are—unbeknownst to their general populace—forced to do almost anything to keep it. While it was once handled with more discretion, for the few who care, the shipment of political prisoners, pensioners, and the underclass into Massert NoSve space is a matter of simple fact. The only mystery is what the Massert NoSve do with them.
Pris/Free Alliance
During the Free Alliance Civil War, a group of rogue traders sitting out the major battle tried to liberate worlds within the Pris Alliance, thinking everyone too distracted to respond. The Pris reprisal was swifter than anyone expected and their occupation of the Free Alliance worlds has been just shy of "genocidal." It remains the single-largest issue on the Free Alliance docket and others make a considerable amount of political hay over it. For their part, most Pris garrisoning forces can reliably take on Free Alliance fleets and diplomatic pressure hasn't been heavy enough to so much as shuffle commanders or issue the standard pithy justifications.
Massert NoSve/Free Alliance
Whatever the realities of accidental revolution, The Free Alliance Civil War is seen with some inside of the Massert NoSve as a romantic affair. Perhaps it's their position halfway across the galaxy, but a larger return to popular rule is something that's now being expressed in the streets, skyscrapers, and satellites across the alliance. While The Regulators have wisely run the alliance for generations, no governing body is perfect. Now, the inevitable losers and cast-offs are now gaining popular support from a populace enchanted with the ideal of real change and control over their lives. The Popular Police have done a good job of removing the less competent leaders, leaving only the more cunning and discreet. Even lower-level Regulators and some leaders within The Popular and Criminal Police have aligned themselves behind the movement, leveraging it to further their own goals.
I feel like the names are a bit hard to follow. My proposed alternatives are below:
ReplyDeleteMassert NoSve => Massert Son / Massert Svon
KAMTASA(why in caps?) => Kamta
Slemmgraise => Slemmi

I already responded to you via email, but I wanted to post so everyone could see.
ReplyDeleteThe official names are the official names. I'm sure you guys, as roleplayers do, will come up with catchy nicknames that can stick as the official colloquialisms of the galaxy.
Also, because every ounce of forward momentum is pretty crucial here (building a universe, overarching story, meta plot, and creating characters), I'm focusing most of my effort on going forward; adding depth (cultures, quirks, appearances), adding additional elements (supporting races and historical events are still wide open), and new story ideas are the main focus here.
If there's a big, big contradiction/issue, I'll tear up the groundwork I've laid, backtrack, and re-lay it. Until then, I've got lots to do and I'm almost halfway through the time I have for it. :(
