Coup D'etat - Session 05 Prelude - Echoes of Thunder

Massert NoSve Alliance
While the Slemmgraise have pulled back their front-line contributions to their military and trade guild, it's rumored that they are working on a new offensive. Because the power of the Massert NoSve counter is less effective when used defensively, rumors of hidden Slemmgraise fleets and ghost stories about missing ships run rampant in the Massert NoSve underclasses.

The Massert NoSve Sixth Fleet reports no sign of an invasion force on the Sur-Et Rim other than an unusually high amount of local unrest. They've investigated new social movements based on silver leaves, tracking down one such strange tree from beyond the rim. It showed evidence of genetic alteration to reproduce via aggressive, asexual, rapid-growing spores and in other ways, though their science teams haven't determined that yet. The Sixth Fleet has lead several planets in creating an effective quarantine.

The Infusers Alliance
Efforts against the Arthroai on several Infuser worlds have intensified. With the passage of legislation by the Mandarins, who run the alliance on behalf of the Infusers, many hives were shut down. Whenever the Arthroai and their supporters protested, violence escalated. Now, the affected hives and their supporters are struggling to find their way out of The Infusers Alliance, pursued by military officials. All eyes have now turned to other hives within the alliance to see if they join their brethren in flight or turn their arms on them to preserve local law.

Meanwhile...
According to The Voice of the Deep, the probes of the Deforest Station have revealed the source of much troulbe on the Sur-Et Rim. While there are general uprisings against local governments and a rise in a religion of silver leaves and the knowledge they bring, most of the destructive actions are attributed to a group of rogue monoliths, lead by a monolith with a silver sheen and a scar across its middle. However, in recent weeks, most of those groups have renounced violence and submitted to summary judgment and trail on The Monoliths' Favorite Planet. It finds no trace of any invading fleets. Worse still, the PROTECT records retrieved from the Katsulas Outpost do cover the Ancient Spikes that the PROTECT and their allies fought prior to the Voice of the Deep's creation, but those Spikes bear no resemblance to those described by Ambassador Gartor.

The Voice of the Deep says it intends to return to the Deforest Station to confirm these findings and contact a reclusive, genius xenogalactic expert who's been seen working with the Massert NoSve. It also suggests that you follow up on the information that Al received about his father. The Voice of the Deep has determined that The Infusers will probably need their help and because they're one of the galaxy's more stable powers right now, you want them in your corner. However, it doesn't have any specifics on why they would need help.
